Hey there! 

Recently I've been working hard on Vortrus and a whole ton of little quality of life changes so that the game itself looks better, feels better, and has more fun and unique features to play. Let's give em a quick run-through. 

New Ships

One of the biggest changes in this update is that there is now 3 new ships to play with. They each offer room for various playstyles and have carefully balanced stats. 

• The Tyranis Carrier

This ship was created as a reward to the highest scorer at the Florida Polytechnic University 2018 Game Expo. The winner chose to have a ship which was heavy to play but powerful, so I definitely obliged. It's one of my favorites. 

• The Gun Runner

One of the most fun ships to create (btw the video of me creating the ship is here), the Gun Runner is basically a salvage job from a very crafty space pirate. This ship has the most actual guns on it, but some of the least damage output for any bullet (because look at those things, machine guns don't do much damage against titanium alloy ships). The technology may be behind the times, but this ship is still amazing at killing enemy ships and taking hits as well. 

• The Swarm

This ship is a literal living presence. A bio-engineered hive, it uses numbers to create huge areas of destruction (at the cost of speed). Very fun to play. 

Other New Changes

Some other changes include: 

• UI updates,
• more upgrades,
• more levels and variety in the levels,
• more unique enemies, 
• and lastly this very last point, Competition Mode

The addition of Competition Mode lets you fight for a spot on your personal scoreboard. Levels now have a Competition Mode variant which you can try for the high score on. Certain ones also have unlockable rewards for achieving a certain score, so don't pass those up!

Overall, these past few months have meant a world of change for Vortrus. Thank you for sticking around and for staying dedicated to the game. It means the world to me.
